Mr President, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided in July 2007 to grant the right to host the 2014 Winter Olympics to Sochi, Russia. Soči atrodas Melnās jūras krastā tikai 20 jūdzes no Krievijas Federācijas un Abhāzijas robežas un tāpēc ir konflikta zonas tiešā tuvumā. Sochi is located on the coast of the Black Sea just 20 miles from the border of the Russian Federation and Abkhazia, and therefore in close proximity to a zone of conflict.
